This annual event has been shown successful mission, which is educating medical equipments to children and let them have friendly memories with medical tools.
This event had sposored with Newman Regional Health, Emporia Public Library, Local Kiwainis Clubs, and Lyon Country Early Childhood Task Force.
Each child brought their own teddy bears to involve this event, and they got name- tag on their wrest same as their own dolls' wrest. Basically, every experience booth will be like this. Children's doll do first and then children can do withouth fearness. There were an X-RAY booth, which made up with boxes, and children put their own bearn into box. Then the bear got X-RAY sheet which shaped with bear. Or, Nursing studetns from ESU, checked the bear's heart with sthetoscope, and then the children easily let them to check their heartbeat.

One child is experiencing to stitching as if the teddy bear is a patient, she got injured her finger while doing this. But at the end, she successfully accomplished her job professionally. |
There were more many activities; such as, Face Painting, Fire Truck & Ambulance, Safety Education.
Next 15th Teddy Bear Clinic events will be held in every spring, April on Flinthills Mall, and there will be no ticket fee for this.

ReplyDeleteNewman Regional Health was hosting its annual Teddy Bear clinic at the Flint Hills Mall Saturday. Nurses, Nursing students, and others were examining kid's Teddy Bears, just as kids would get examined if they went to the doctor’s office.
For some it’s their first experience with a doctor and they would get a look at medical procedures to minimize fear. Pediatrician Dr. Derek Brown said that some kids are in tune with what’s going on with their bodies and others are not.
